PSMA Members Meet Face To Face At Planning Meeting And Look Forward To Annual Meeting At APEC 2012

T he 2011 PSMA Planning Meeting was held at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, Florida on Sept. 24, 2011 with twenty-one attendees.

Chairman Dusty Becker welcomed all of the attendees and noted that a new Executive Team will be elected in January and that 3 of the 4 current Directors whose terms of office expire at the Annual Meeting are not eligible to run for an additional term.

Dusty presented an overview of the membership statistics and the changes since the last meeting. He emphasized that the technical committees are the heart of the organization and it is in these committees that the real work of PSMA is done. A listing of the active committees together with a brief summary of recently completed and on-going projects was included in his presentation.

Secretary/Treasurer Michel Grenon was unable to attend, but sent the latest 6-Quarter financial forecast which indicates that the Association will remain in good financial position over the period. This will allow PSMA to fund Special Projects that promise to bring value to the membership.

Frank Cirolia, General Chair for APEC 2012, presented an update on the current status of the Technical Program and the new initiatives being introduced in APEC 2012. Specifically he reviewed the APEC Partnership program being introduced at APEC 2012.

Regular member company representatives will participate in the election of four new Directors to serve on the PSMA Board for a three-year term beginning immediately and ending at APEC 2015. The detailed agenda for the meeting will be posted in the News & Information section of the PSMA web site. The meeting will include summary reports from each of the committees and discussions on new PSMA initiatives for 2012 and beyond. In addition there will be informative presentations from invited guest speakers on current topics of interest to the industry.

Members and guests are invited to remain for the Board of Directors meeting that will immediately follow the Annual Meeting. Participation in these meetings will provide you with the opportunity you to network with colleagues from other companies and to influence the direction of the PSMA and the power sources industry.

The best way to get more out of your company membership in PSMA is to become involved with one of our active committees. The Alternative Energy, Capacitor, Energy Efficiency, Energy Harvesting, Magnetics, Marketing, Nanotechnology and Packaging committees all plan to hold open meetings during the week of APEC 2012. All are invited to participate in or to just to drop in to hear and provide input as the activities are being planned for the coming year.

We look forward to meeting and talking with you at the PSMA booth outside of the exhibition area and look forward to a good turnout and a very exciting week.
