Meet Your Directors

In the last issue of UPDATE we profiled newly elected Directors Arnold Alderman and Dusty Becker. In this issue we introduce the other two Directors who were elected at the 2006 Annual Meeting.

Meet newly elected Board member Frank Cirolia

 Frank Cirolia is a 25 year veteran in the power supply industry. Frank has progressed through the ranks since receiving his first degree as an ASEE, Engineering technician in 1982. In 1987 he received a BSEE and since progressed from a Design Engineer; to Project Engineer; to Chief Design Engineer; and to Engineering Manager. Currently he is working as a Systems and Application Engineer at Artesyn Technologies, supporting key telecom companies in North America.

Frank's technical experiences have included responsibilities for the design, layout, packaging and production of single and multiple output converters which utilize various topologies with power ranging from 10 to 3000 watts. He has a diverse background which includes, military and aerospace experience with Lockheed; high volume, PC power supply experience with Wang Labs; and commercial OEM/ Telecom experience with companies such as Unipower, ABB, Ascom, Delta and Artesyn.

In 1991 Frank received the South Florida Manufacturing Associates (SFMA) Award for design manufacturability. In 1992 received the Florida Governor's New Product Award. He has also been actively involved with VPEC -Virginia Power Electronics Center and CPES - Center for Power Electronics Systems.

Frank has been a member of IEEE/ PELS for the last 15 years and has attended most APEC conferences since 1987. Frank was a PSMA Board of Director member from 1999 to 2002 and was involved with the StatPEP study and was a contributor to the 2000 Power Technology Roadmap Workshop. Frank was a member of the APEC steering committee in 2002 and has been the APEC Rap Session chair from 2003 to 2006. Most recently, Frank has been an active member of the PICMG, uTCA platform committee. Frank considers his work a hobby and is always ready to support the industry anyway he can.

Frank Cirolia welcomes the chance to be part of the PSMA Board of Directors, a group dedicated to improving the power industry.

Meet newly re-elected Board member Kevin Parmenter

 Kevin Parmenter started in the power electronics industry 25 years ago - first as a co-op student designing and repairing medical instrumentation and then in military systems and electronics countermeasures systems for the US Air Force, Navy and Marine corps at Northrop Corporation (now Northrop Grumman).

Kevin later moved into Field Applications engineering, first as a rep for test and measurement and semiconductors at Torkelson Associates and then moving on to Motorola Semiconductor.

He was promoted from Field Applications Engineering to FAE management; he later worked for ON Semiconductor, for Primarion, a startup company, working on digital power control and now works at Fairchild Semiconductor as the FAE director for the Americas.

He has served on the PSMA Board of Directors since 2003 and has served as the APEC publicity chair for the last 2 years. Kevin is currently the Vice President of the PSMA Board of Directors and is the PSMA representative on the APEC management track.

Kevin resides in Chandler, AZ with his wife Jill. Kevin has a BSEE and is presently working toward an MBA. His interests include Audio systems, Scuba diving (rescue diver), Amateur Radio, Callsign KG5Q, Extra class license as well as an FCC first class license (now the General Radiotelephone license).
